Design systems aren't optional anymore
July 23, 2026 · by Arthur, Mjolnir Design Studios
Teams shipping fast without a design system are building technical debt. Inconsistent components, fragmented tokens, and redundant work across products drain velocity. A locked design system solves this.
- Document every decision in code, not Figma. Your tokens, components, and patterns live in version control. Designers and engineers stop inventing the same button five times.
- Make tokens your source of truth for scale. Color, spacing, typography — all centralized. One change cascades everywhere. New products launch in weeks instead of months.
- Audit your component inventory now. Count duplicate buttons, modals, cards across your product. That audit tells you exactly where a system saves labor first.
Start small: pick one product, lock three core components, ship them as a package.
